Greetings DAM members,
 Wow, can you believe that Fall is here?? The DAM dive season has flown by in the wink of an eye ! Seems like we were just planning our dive in Deerfield. Soon, thoughts of the holidays will be rolling in.  Plans will be made. Where will you be on Turkey Day? " Shop early!" you tell yourself, yet you find the time flying faster still. Then boom, welcome 2008 ! But let's get back to the turkey shall we??? MMMMM......TURKEY (of course you should read that part like Homer Simpson).  Which reminds me, I will be accepting all leftovers on my doorstep on the 26Th.  I will waddle out and get them in between naps !  But seriously, I do regret not having more DAM events this summer. I was traveling, and found myself short on time !  One trip this summer was a FAM trip with Carnival Cruise lines and I have to tell you that I WILL be offering this trip as a DAM Summer Dive Trip in 2008 .  It was on the "Valor" and it visited Grand Cayman, Roatan, Mexico, and Belize and it was awesome!! It will be a seven day cruise leaving out of the Port of Miami probably mid to late summer. This trip will have something for everyone even if you don't scuba dive ! (details to follow) If you want to check it out go to  www.carnivalcruiseline.com.  One of my hobbies, since I was 16 or so (couple years ago) was music.  Well, wouldn't you know it? I found another great band to join and we will be playing at the Titanic in South Miami on Saturday,  October 20Th  at 9:00pm.   We are a blues and rock band and have been together for about 2 years.  I am just starting to put together an email list for the band. If you are interested in being on the "Witz-nd" email list, please let me know and I will take care of it. Please join me won't you???  It'll be a real hoot !!I will be hosting more events next year, and if you have been somewhere that you found to be a great dive area, please,  DO let me know as I might make your hot travel tip the next DAM adventure  ! !

Hello to all Dive Adventure Members,
  Wow ! Time does fly... Can you believe it is Summer already? It's been awhile since my last contact with y'all  so lets get to it.
I have been itching to get wet and I hope everyone else feels the same !!  Spring has seemed to have slipped away and here we are staring Summer right in the face and it has a mask and snorkel on ! So break into those closets and dive bags, check your gear over and join me in a couple weeks and lets dive !  Saturday, June 23rd at 12:30 p.m. I am going to be head to Deerfield Beach diving on Diversity with our friend Captain Tony.  We will be doing two drift dives checking out all the reef has to offer. The cost for the dive  is $55 ,with tanks it is $75. Nitrox and rental gear is available for an extra charge. Hello to all of you DAM members,   
Wow...what a summer.... can you believe its almost over??? It seems like just yesterday when you attended my annual DAM spring social and were saying to me," sure Nor...I would love to join you on one of your lovely weekend extravaganzas...."  Well guess what????  IT'S HERE !!!!! Not only that, but I  have two rooms left at the Drop Anchor Inn for anyone who would like to stay overnight. Its a really cool ' Keysie ' type of hotel on Oceanside.Close to all the festivities, a pool ,and newly renovated. About $100-$125 per night. First come,first serve. On Saturday Sept. 9Th I will be diving at night on the Benwood wreck with Amy Slates at 6:30p.m. or so depending on that gosh-darn sun....it could be a Little bit later...but I need at least Four divers to reserve the boat,so make your reservation with me soon !!!! Dive is $50 with tanks and weights, dive only $ 33.  CASH ONLY.  Tax not included. Rental gear available.Then on Sunday Sept. 10Th I will attempt to do the Speigel Grove with Conch Republic Divers providing mother nature is cooperating that day !! That dive will be at 8:00am and run $65 with tanks and weights, $55 no tanks. Tax not included. CASH ONLY. Again,check out the website for photos of the "big catch."  Speaking of the " big catch" ....This Sunday as Anita and I peered out over the Everglades from the overlook tower at Shark Valley, drinking Mimosas and having a light breakfast, and celebrating her %$@!  birthday...I knelt down on one knee and asked her to be my wife...and thankfully ....after not even 10 or 15 minutes...without hesitation....she said," Make sure you tell the club to get their reservations in EARLY !!!!!.." Then she said "yes"..... True Story.Thanks Anita ( love of my life )...and thank you all for your time. Hello DAM members.....
I want to thank everyone who attended my spring social this past weekend. I was amazed at the turnout this year !!! I believe it was the largest turnout in over 5 years ! It was sooo nice to see all of you,new and seasoned members.( I think I might be on to something with the cocktail parties. I am glad y'all enjoyed the food Anita and I prepared. I could tell cuz there wasn't any left !!! And thanks to all of you for bringing the spirits to make the party come alive !! I want to extend a big DAM congrats to our very close member Vivian,who recently got engaged, a big DAM congrats to another close member who just got married, Lisa and finally,  happy DAM birthday to Adelle who shared her special day with us  (after diving of course) !! Greetings DAM Members !!!!

Yes....finally the time is here to get the 2006 dive season under way ! I have an exciting year planned for the club and some new changes that  think will make for  great diving experiences. But first, let me officially invite you to "Dive Adventures of Miamis' Spring Social 2006."  ( Long titile,but you get the idea ! )  It will be on May 6Th, Saturday at 4:00pm - 6:00pm.  This is one thing I've changed. I will be providing the delicious food, you guys provide the drinks !!! That way y'all don't have to worry 'bout  nuttin'  except what my favorite beverage is. Well if you know me.....its.......ANYTHING !!! Also, there will be no presentations ! I am bored of them as I am sure you are. I will have sign up sheets with all of my trips for this year and schedules for you to take with you.  I have decided to do trips every three weeks instead of two like last year. In some cases, there are four weeks between trips to extend the dive season just a little. All dives are on Sunday morning except the "DAM Weekender" trips planned in the keys. These trips will include a variety of options !  So, please do RSVP me and say ya wanna be DAM social !!! Hello DAM Members and happy holidays....   Yes, you got it right...."THE HOLIDAYS".  As you finish with cleaning up  the yard, putting away the generators, turning your pool from holiday green back to ordinary blue to match your blue tarped roof, you can mark in a little holiday relief on your calander and come to Monty's on South Beach. As thoughts of turkey, gravy and mashed potato's fade away, join me at Monty's at 4:00pm on Saturday the 26Th of November and we will celebrate expandable waistbands !!!  Bring the family, and any friends that might be in town and lets party!!!   Just getting back from another fantastic trip to Cocos Island,Costa Rica !!! Gotta say this is one of the most unique spots in the world to dive !! The club took 8 great members on this trip,and everyone agreed that it was a special place indeed. Manta rays, Hammerheads, White-tip reef sharks, and dolphins were on the dive menu on this adventure. Even some Humpback whales on our way out !!! The weather,food and service on the live-aboard was rated excellent as well. If you have and adventurous spirit,you might want to consider this trip. I will be planning one for June 2006. I will also be posting photos from the trip soon !   I have a great year planned for the club. Most of it is being planned as the letter is coming out!  I can tell you that I have some awesome weekender trips planned locally as well as some exciting trips planned in the Caribbean. Costa Rica, Cozumel, and Tobago are on the schedule. Dates for these and other trips will be posted soon.Also,I am planning a trip to Tahiti in 2007,so plan ahead !! Due to my computer getting sick this last week, I was unable to contact all of you earlier,and I do apologize for that. The computer doctor was over (thanks Chris!!) and now she's up and running better that ever !  I know that  it is short notice but I would love to see you there especially those folks who have been wanting to get active,but for some reason have not been able to join me this year (and you know who you are!!). Hello  DAM members !!!  I hope everyone has made it through all of this craziness the last week or so. Katrina sure left her mark in my neighborhood !! If any of you live or know someone who lives in the New Orleans, Alabama, Mississippi, or anywhere in the Lousiana area, my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. What a tragedy....and it could have been us. I am sure we are all going to feel the effects of this terrible event for a long time to come.    So why not plan a dive trip to help you forget for a little while !!!!  I have an exciting new trip planned for this spring. We are headed to Belize for a ten day liveaboard with Peter Huges where you will experience some of the best diving in the world. Trust me, I have been to Belize several times,and I must say that the Southern Barrier reef can be mind blowing !! The trip is $2800 with an estimated airfare included and all the details are on my newly updated website at  DIVEADVENTURESOFMIAMI.COM. Belize is now on the homepage as well as all the upcoming trips. The trip will be on February 25th through March 4th and is for all types of divers experienced or not ! So if you are just starting out,this trip is a good one for you!    I would also like to mention that the Cozumel trip was cancelled due to (what else!) hurricane Emily. Thats the bad news. The good news is that it has been rescheduled for December 26th through January 2nd !  So,you couldn't make it before? Well, you have another chance ! Again,the trip will run about $1200 with an estimated airfare included. If you have been a bad boy ar girl and do not expect anything good from the man in red, get out of dodge and come with me to Cozumel and we will drown our sorrows with Margaritas !! Check out my site for more info... I had to cancel my last dive of the season due to travel schedules so there will be no dive on the 25th of September with Blue Water Divers. I will reschedule a dive and will notify all of you through email.   On a related topic, I WILL be having my" world famous" end of the year party on the 26th of November at 4:00pm. If you have been to one of my gatherings,you know the drill. I will supply ice,paper goods,cups, some appeteasers,some wine, some beer and of course my home.You bring a covered dish or appeteaser and the beverage of your choice. If you mix all that together with all of you DAM people,you'll find a great time had by all. Join me won't you? Well greetings DAM members...I hope everyone had a great Fourth of July celebration and that all of you still have ten fingers and toes !!! Here's an update of what's happening on the scuba front.   Our last dive was out of a great little spot in Pompano Beach called Seahorse Divers. These guys (and ladies) were excellent ! Good service from the moment we got there. Very good dive boat,clean,shaded,spacious and free drinks and pretzels to boot ! Captain Mike and Captain Chris were a very pleasant and helpful crew. We did two drift dives on a virtually flat ocean. The reefs are very nice up north,but due to weeks of thunderstorms,our vis was around 40 feet.Tons of reef fish,a slipper lobster,eels,and a few nurse sharks.If you have never dived in this area,join me on August 7Th in Boynton at Sunstar for a morning dive! Finished up the day with lunch at Big Daddy's then we were on our way home(commute time to Miami? 45 minutes on Sunday!).   Next,I would like to let everyone know that Aggressor has opened two more spots up for the Coco Island trip in October. This is a live aboard trip that will definitely be a trip of a lifetime! Approximate dates for this trip will be Oct.14Th-24Th.I have also added on whitewater rafting,rain forest zipping,and a day at the hot springs just before we get on the plane to come home! Cost is around $3500. I will have specifics after the 11Th of July.If you are interested,a deposit is required ASAP,so email me soon! Please pass this along to anyone you might feel would be interested.   There will be a schedule change for the month of August. On the 21st,I have changed the dive to Underseas Inc. in Big Pine key. If you have never been diving in Looe Key,please do yourself a favor and join me. I will be staying down in the Keys on Saturday and diving on Sunday morning.If you are interested,let me know and I can recommend a Hotel. Underseas is located at mile marker 30.5 and has some of the best reefs in the state(in my humble opinion). Do join us,wwon't you?   I would like to take a moment to congratulate our newest open water diver Gina Mora who competed her course with our clubs instructor Dave Hartman. Hope to see you on some of my trips in the future Gina!!! I would also like to day hello to a few new members like Don Barber,Chris Scheurer, Jon Olin ,Gene Owen,and of course Gina. Hello DAM members,  I hope this letter finds everyone happy and in good health. I have a lot to cover so lets get goin' !!  First of all, I would like to start by announcing my new website that ( with a little help from my friends ) is now up and running !! I also have all of the trips that I am planning,contact info,and all the past emails in case you have missed anything. (shame,shame!)   In case you know of anyone who is interested in getting certified or might need a refresher course or possibly a nitrox certification, please get in touch with Dave Hartman at 305-453-9208 and tell him you are with the DAM club for a 10% discount !  I would like to let the winners of the raffle, who might have left WAY too early ,that I am holding on to your prizes. Lisa ,Thomas, Sandy,and Dave  are all winners! (not that you weren't before!) I will hold onto them until I need some new shirts !!!  I would like to take a moment to talk about DAN insurance. If you dive, I believe that you cannot do without this protection. For a minimal amount,you get piece of mind. On some of my trips,I will require that you have it. So please consider joining up with DAN, it could save your life. You can go to my website and click on the DAN symbol for more info.  I am now planning for October and February trips and I want to explain a few things about getting group rates. Some of you have inquired why deposits are do so quickly when the trip is not for months.Group rates and discounts usually require deposits for rooms and the need to purchase airline tickets quit rapidly to get the best rates. To get the best rates, especially on airfare, the "group" needs to buy all of the tickets at once. Then, we hope to get 10% off of our airfare. I hope this might clear up some questions about deposits which brings me to Costa Rica....   I have received deposits from 9 people and am looking to make this trip Even more incredible by having you join me! If you,or anyone you know might be interested in this trip, please contact me asap for info for deposits. This trip is a "once in a lifetime" trip and will be from October 14th-24th and requires $1000 deposit to hold a spot. Check the website for more info.  Our first dive of the season was last weekend at Conch Republic Divers in Islandmorada and was a blast!! On a sad note, I recently lost my father after a battle with emphysema. He was my dad,my mentor,and my best friend. I will miss him dearly. Thanks to all of you that have supported me through this very difficult time. Your amount of love and concern has helped me start the healing process.  Well, our next dive will be on June 19th in Pompano at Seahorse Charters at 8:00 am. I hope you can all join me for these great drift dives. Let me know if you want to reserve your space today ! Hello to all Dive Adventure of Miami members,   All you crazy kids should know by now that we are headed to Cozumel on July 17th-23rd. To reserve your spot, I need to have a check in my hand buy this Friday,April 15th just in time for tax day !!! ( I need to pay my taxes somehow ! HA! ). I am getting a pretty good rate on airfare,but we all need to book at the same time, so by Friday, who ever has a check to me will be booked with air and all.We will be leaving from MIA on American Airlines.If you want to use your miles to book,you will need to call AA on your own to book air and go with whatever rate they quote you. $750 should be sent to me: Norris Wolford 5858 SW 80th St  South Miami, FL 33143. Please mark in "memo" DAM deposit for Cozumel.I know the original deposit was for $500,but since I am paying for all the airfare at one time, I will need more to cover air and hotel reservations.The final payment for this trip will be on May 27th. I look forward to drinkin' Margaritas in Cozumel with ya !!

I would like to thank all of the great folks that came to my annual scuba party. There was a great turnout and we sure did have some great weather ! A special thanks to Nancy Mckenzie for all her help at the registration desk, Terri Huber and family for the Peter Hughes presentation and donation for the raffle (congrats to Vivian!), and to Austins Dive Center for all the great scuba stuff won by all the members in the raffle ! If you missed it, stay tuned for my first happy hour in May, and you can catch up on all the news for this year.  One of my trips will be to Cocos Island, Costa Rica which will be on October 15th-23rd. Some of you expressed an interest in this great adventure. If you are considering this trip, I have already started collecting deposits  and need to collect from all interested parties to make a reservation. Please contact me ASAP to make a reservation or for more info. The deposit amount is $1000,and trip insurance is available.   Another trip is to Cozumel,Mexico on the July 17th-23rd. I have made reservations for the Barracuda ( 5 rooms double occ.), and Hotel Cozumel (5 rooms double occ.). All reservations must be made through me for the hotels and airfare. As some folks have found out, airfare to Cozumel can be quite pricey. I can get us better prices than the net ,BUT, WE NEED TO BOOK AS A GROUP. So, let me know if you are interested in this trip and we'll go from there. The flight I have arranged will leave from Miami , change plans in Dallas, then to Cozumel. Price was around $500, but that was today. And with gas going up....  I don't see fares coming down !! NOW IS THE TIME TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT WITH A $500 DEPOSIT.   You will find a copy of the 2005 dive schedule attached.
